Full Reports

Cover Letter Cover letter is required if AI-assisted technologies were used because their use must be described in the cover letter. If AI-assisted technologies were used, the cover letter must describe that use.
Abstract Full Reports must include an abstract. Abstract must be 150–200 words. Abstract must be unstructured. Abstract should include background, methods, key findings, and public health message components.
Manuscript Full Reports must not exceed 1,400 words total, excluding the abstract. Full Reports typically use labeled Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion sections, must include a labeled Limitations paragraph as the next-to-last paragraph, and must conclude with a labeled Implications for Public Health Practice section. Manuscript must include a summary box of no more than 125 words answering 'What is already known about this topic?', 'What is added by this report?', and 'What are the implications for public health practice?', and it must state whether any AI-assisted technologies were used in the development of the work.
References Full Reports must include no more than 10 references. References must follow ICMJE Recommendations style. References must be listed in numeric order.
Figures & Tables Full Reports may include no more than 3 tables, figures, or boxes in total, and may include up to 3 supplementary tables or figures. Each table and figure must be submitted as a separate file and must not be embedded in the report text file. Figures must not contain more than four panels.

Outbreak Reports

Cover Letter A cover letter is required when AI-assisted technologies were used. Cover letter must describe any use of AI-assisted technology in the development of the submitted work.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must be 150–200 words. Abstract must be unstructured. Abstract should include one to three sentences establishing the outbreak or public health problem, state that an investigation was conducted with when and by whom, present the most important findings, describe actions taken to stem the outbreak, and state the public health implications and actions to be taken.

Manuscript generally includes labeled Abstract, Investigation and Results, Public Health Response, and Discussion sections and should read like a chronologic narrative. Manuscript must include a summary box, corresponding author information, and author affiliations, and authors must state any use of AI-assisted technologies in the submitted work.
References References must not exceed 10. References must follow ICMJE Recommendations. References must be listed in numeric order.
Figures & Tables No more than 3 tables, figures, or boxes in total are permitted, and up to 3 supplementary tables or figures may be included. Each table and figure must be submitted as a separate file and must not be embedded in the report text file. Figures must not contain more than four panels.
