Progress in Retinal and Eye Research is a reviews-only, invitation-based journal covering basic and clinical aspects of the eye for molecular biologists, neuroscientists, physiologists, vision researchers, and ophthalmologists. It covers all aspects of eye research, including the retina, pigment epithelial layer, cornea, tears, lacrimal glands, aqueous humour, iris, ciliary body, trabeculum, lens, vitreous humour, and diseases such as dry-eye, inflammation, keratoconus, corneal dystrophy, glaucoma, and cataract.

Progress In Retinal And Eye Research is an invitation-only journal. Submissions are accepted by invitation from the editorial board only. The following article types are accepted:

Review Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract An abstract not exceeding 250 words is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be concise and factual in an unstructured format.
Manuscript Articles must be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections, and Review Article proposals must include a contents page outlining the areas to be covered. The manuscript must include 1 to 7 keywords in English, and if AI tools were used for manuscript preparation it must include a declaration section immediately above the references specifying the tool used and the reason for using it.
References Citations must use author name and year format. The reference list must be arranged alphabetically and then chronologically if necessary, with same-year works by the same author distinguished by letters.
Figures & Tables Tables should be placed next to the relevant text or on separate pages at the end of the article, while figures must be supplied as separate files along with the manuscript. Tables must be submitted as editable text rather than images and all figures and tables must be cited in the manuscript and accompanied by captions.
