Abstract A summary is required and a plain language summary is also required. The summary must be no more than 250 words and the plain language summary must be no more than 150 words.
Manuscript Research Articles must include an Introduction followed by (Animals), (human subjects), materials and methods, Results, and Discussion. The manuscript must include up to five keywords and the Introduction must state the article's relevance to the development and promotion of alternatives to the use of animals for scientific purposes.
References In-text citations must use author name and year of publication. References must be listed in alphabetic order by first author and include full DOIs or, if unavailable, other full content links.
Figures & Tables All figures, tables, and boxes must be placed appropriately within the text or at the end in the review PDF. Tables must be editable text rather than images, and each figure or table must have a number and a caption title.

Unedited versions of main articles and short communications are published as accepted manuscripts upon acceptance after receipt of final files and clarification of open issues; final versions are published in print and online in a journal issue.
