Original Research

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required and must be 350 words. Abstract must be 350 words. Abstract must be structured as the main text. Abstract must use the same main section structure as the manuscript.
Manuscript Original Research articles have a maximum suggested word count of 6,000 words and an absolute maximum of 12,000 words. Manuscript must use the major sections Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion with no separate subheadings beyond these. Manuscript must include a title page with up to six keywords and a word count statement, a summary table with up to three single-sentence bullet points each for what is known and what the work adds, a final Discussion sentence beginning "This work represents an advance in biomedical science because…….", a 200-word contribution to the field statement, and a statement of author contributions.
References References must be formatted in Vancouver style. References must list the first six authors followed by et al., include the DOI when available, and use the Vancouver system for in-text citations.
Figures & Tables Original Research articles may include up to 10 tables and figures in total. Figures and tables may be placed within the text, while figures can also be submitted as separate documents. Original Research articles must include a summary table, figure captions must be placed at the end of the manuscript, and tables must be directly inserted into the manuscript.

Review Articles

Abstract Abstract is required for Review Articles. Abstract must be 350 words.
Manuscript Review Articles should be 4,000 to 6,000 words with an absolute maximum of 12,000 words. Main text must follow the abstract, may be divided into subsections, and does not require Materials and Methods, Results, or Discussion sections. Manuscript must include 5 to 8 keywords and a 200-word contribution to the field statement, and summary tables are not required for this article type.
References References must be formatted in Vancouver style. References must list the first six authors followed by et al., include the DOI when available, and use Vancouver-style in-text citations.
Figures & Tables Review Articles may include up to 15 tables and figures in total. Figures may be placed within the text or submitted separately, while tables must be directly inserted into the manuscript. Figure captions must be placed at the end of the manuscript and table captions must appear immediately before the table.

Manuscript Manuscript must be up to 3,000 words. Manuscript must include an introduction, details of the case, and a discussion, must not use sub-headings, and must end with a summary sentence explaining why the case represents an advance in biomedical science. Manuscript must include analysis involving at least three of the major disciplines within biomedical science and include 5 to 8 keywords.
References References must use Vancouver style. References must list the first six authors followed by et al. and include the DOI when available.
Figures & Tables Case Report may contain no more than 4 figures and tables in total. Figures and tables may be placed within the text or submitted as separate documents. Tables must be directly inserted into the manuscript in editable source form rather than as figures.
