Original Research

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must disclose any use of AI to generate content or images, write code, process data, or provide translation.
Abstract A 250-word structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Aims, Methods and Results, and Conclusion.
Manuscript Manuscript must be no more than 3,500 words. Original research articles should usually be divided into Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion sections. Manuscript must include a graphical abstract, a Novelty box with 2 to 4 full-sentence bullet points describing the study's new insights, and an AI disclosure in the Methods or Acknowledgements section if applicable.
References References must follow the Oxford University Press SCIMED numeric style and Vancouver format. References must be cited with Arabic numerals in the order first mentioned, and if a reference has more than six authors the first six should be listed followed by "et al.".
Figures & Tables Each table should be uploaded as a separate file and each figure must be submitted as an individual image file, with figure legends included in the manuscript file and table legends provided in a separate Legends file. Each table must have a title and legend, and all figures and tables must be numbered consecutively in the order first cited in the text.

Review Article

Cover Letter A cover letter or completed journal submission form must accompany the manuscript. The cover letter must disclose any use of AI to help generate content or images, write code, process data, or provide translation.

References References must follow the Oxford University Press SCIMED numeric style and be compiled in Vancouver style. References must be numbered in the order cited using Arabic numerals, and if a reference has more than six authors, the first six authors should be listed followed by et al.
Figures & Tables Each table must be uploaded as a separate file, and each figure must be submitted as an individual image file. Figure titles and legends must be included within the manuscript file, and all tables and figures must have legends.

Manuscript Research Letters must be no more than 1,000 words. Supplementary data must not be included, and any AI use for writing assistance, data collection, analysis, or figure generation must be disclosed in the manuscript’s Acknowledgements or Methods section.
References Research Letters must include no more than 10 references. References must follow the journal’s numeric Vancouver-style system. References must be numbered in order of citation using Arabic numerals, and if a reference has more than six authors, only the first six should be listed followed by “et al.”.
Figures & Tables Research Letters may include either 1 figure with up to 6 panels or 1 table. Each table must be uploaded as a separate file, each figure must be submitted as an individual image file, and figure legends must be included in the manuscript. All tables and figures must have legends, and multipanel figures must be submitted as a single file with each panel labelled by a letter.

References must be numbered in the order cited using Arabic numerals, and if a reference has more than six authors, the first six authors should be listed followed by “et al.”.
