Gut Microbes is an open access journal that publishes research on intestinal microbiota and its role in gastrointestinal, liver, cardiac disease, cancer, and irritable and inflammatory bowel conditions. The journal provides a platform for cutting-edge research on microorganisms populating the intestine, with particular focus on mechanistic and cause-and-effect studies across areas including gastrointestinal disease, host-pathogen interactions, probiotics and prebiotics, clinical trials, and the role of intestinal microbiota in health and disease.

Manuscript A word count for the paper must be included. Manuscript should be organized as title page, abstract, keywords, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, acknowledgments, declaration of interest statement, references, appendices as appropriate, tables with captions, figures, and figure captions. Manuscript must include keywords and a declaration of interest statement under the subheading “Disclosure of interest.”
