Journal of Neuropsychiatry accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Regular Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must confirm originality and prior approval by each author and must fully identify any use of generative AI in creating the submission.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. The abstract must not exceed 250 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript The main text is limited to 4,000 words, and tables and figures count toward the submission word count at 300 words per half page. The manuscript text should follow standard research report headings of Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusions. The manuscript must include disclosure information for each author, report AI writing assistance in the acknowledgments, and describe AI used for data collection, analysis, or figure generation in the Methods section.
References References are limited to 40. References must follow NLM style. References must be numbered in order of appearance, cited in the text with Arabic numerals in parentheses, list up to three authors before using “et al.,” and use Index Medicus journal abbreviations where applicable.
Figures & Tables Displayed items are limited to 5. Tables must appear at the end of the main manuscript file after the references and figure captions, while each figure must be uploaded as a separate file. Each table, figure, and box must be numbered in order of citation, have a concise descriptive title, and be understandable without reference to the text.

Special Article

Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be unstructured. An unstructured abstract should not use mandatory headings.
Manuscript Main text must not exceed 7,500 words. Manuscript must be arranged in the order title page, abstract, text, references, and tables and/or figures with captions. Manuscript must include a title page, disclosure information for each author, a plain language summary for Kudos, an acknowledgment of AI writing assistance if used, and a Methods section description of AI use for data collection, analysis, or figure generation if applicable.
References References must be limited to 100. References must follow NLM/Citing Medicine style with citations numbered in order of appearance. References must be numbered and listed in order of appearance rather than alphabetically, include up to three authors followed by “et al.” for additional authors, and use Index Medicus journal abbreviations where applicable.
Figures & Tables Displayed items must be limited to 5. Tables must be placed at the end of the main manuscript file after the references and any figure captions, while each figure must be uploaded as a separate file. Figure captions must appear at the end of the references before any tables, and all figures must include alternative text of 100 to 150 characters.

Clinical And Research Report
