Pharmaceutical Medicine is a hybrid journal covering the multidisciplinary specialty of pharmaceutical medicine, including scientific, medical, regulatory, and ethical activities in the discovery, development, evaluation, registration, and monitoring of medicines, clinical trials, and drug development. It publishes peer-reviewed original research and review articles spanning new active substance identification, product development and licensing, and the monitoring of medicinal product use in clinical practice.

Review Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must state the article type, explain why the paper is important and of interest to the journal’s readership, briefly describe what the review covers, and include any other pertinent information.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must be 150 to 250 words. Abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Review Article manuscript should be up to 8000 words, excluding the abstract, references, figure legends, and table captions. Manuscript must include a disclosure statement, a statement specifying who had the idea for the article, who performed the literature search and data analysis, and who drafted or critically revised the work, relevant declarations under the heading "Statements and Declarations," two to three short bullet points under the heading "Key Points," and documentation of any large language model use in the Methods section or another suitable section if no Methods section is available.
References There is no limit on the number of references. References must use numbered citations in square brackets. Reference list entries must be numbered consecutively and include only cited works that have been published or accepted for publication, with full DOI links when available.
Figures & Tables There is no limit on the number of figures or tables. Figures should be submitted within the body of the text unless file size causes upload problems, in which case large figures should be submitted separately from the text. Figures and tables must be numbered with Arabic numerals, cited in consecutive numerical order, and each must have a caption, with figure captions included in the manuscript text file rather than in the figure file.

Systematic Review

The cover letter must state the article type, outline why the paper is important, briefly describe what the review covers or what the study found, explain why it would interest the journal’s readership, and include any other pertinent information.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must be 150 to 250 words, but for Systematic Reviews it may be increased up to 450 words if needed.
Manuscript Systematic Reviews should have a word count up to 10,000 words, excluding the abstract, references, figure legends, and table captions. The manuscript must document any large language model use in the Methods section or another suitable section if no Methods section is available, include relevant declarations under 'Statements and Declarations,' and include two to three non-technical bullet points under the heading 'Key Points'.
References There is no limit on the number of references. References must be cited in the text using numbers in square brackets, listed consecutively in numbered order, include only works cited in the text that are published or accepted for publication, and provide full DOI links when available.
Figures & Tables There is no limit on the number of figures or tables. Figures should be submitted within the body of the text unless file size causes upload problems, in which case large figures should be submitted separately. A completed study flowchart must be provided, and each table and figure must be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals and accompanied by a caption.
